#TruLondon & Women of HR
Why do you attend conferences?
- It’s the only way I can get a day off work!
- They always give me a really great bag of goodies!
- The speakers leave me inspired and full of ideas!
- It’s the chance to connect with new people and engage in real conversations with my peers!
Personally I pick 4. Why? Because ideas are everywhere, speakers put videos and free goodies online everyday and if it’s the only way you get a day off work then seriously run long and fast from wherever you are working!
Seth Godin recently wrote how no matter what conference he attends, including the TED conference, he sacrifices attending the sessions in order to engage in real conversations which you can read all about here.
So what sort of conversations did I engage in at #TruLondon? Well I had the privilege of meeting some amazing Women of HR. At first I was a little overwhelmed by so many ‘internet’ and ‘twitter’ celebrities/personalities in one room. But at the end of the day I realised that we are all just people who go through the same routines as everyone else. We still wake up and put our pants on one leg a time and considering it was a global conference we were all experiencing different side effects from travel such as an interrupted poop schedule!
So if you want read about the conversations I engaged in then head over to Women of HR to read my latest guest post and don’t forget to let me know why you attend conferences in the comments section!
